RADIO PLAYS
I like the radio and radio plays. From fairy tales to sound experiments. So far, I have participated (as a radio play is always a team endeavour) in three plays (plus eight one-minute ones). And working on some new ones ...

Pro Patria Mori (2014)
Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori" is a line from the Roman poet Horace, that can be roughly translated as "It is sweet and fitting to die for your country." Wilfred Owen, an English poet who died in action in the last week of WW1, used it as the last line of his eponymous poem. In our 7 minute radio play, we are superposing Owen's poem with a more contemporary outlook on WW1.
A version with English subtitles is available on Vimeo through the EBU website. Author: Eva Blechová, with use of Wilfred Owen's poem translated by Klára Novotná. Creative team: Ladislav Železný, Klára Novotná, Eva Blechová, Ivan Chrz, Dominik Budil and Dana Reichová. Cast: Aleš Vrzák (David Vaughan for the English version), Kryštof Lobkowicz and Lukas Růžička. The play won the third prize at the international radio competition Prix Marulič 2015 and third prize at the Prix Bohemia 2016 radio drama competition. |
